Since investing in human capital is the main objective, the UAE has been keen on establishing the Ministry of Education and creating the appropriate environment to build pioneering Emirati schools, in terms of standards, form, and content they provide. It also made sure that such schools provided high-quality educational environment and owned the most technically advanced tools to be able to graduate generations that could pursue their university education confidently in higher education institutions to fulfil the requirements of labor market.
The MOE has also provided a smart learning system and high-quality digital platforms, side by side with the continuous development of school curriculums, according to national learning standards, assessment policy that is based on assessing for learning, and highest quality standards that match the best international practices. Various learning tracks, moreover, have been provided to support the capabilities and skills of students and achieve the country's strategy of encouraging the culture of creativity and innovation through providing the students with the skills of the 21st century and motivating them to have new ideas that relate to the reality they live in and foresee the future. Department Definition
The Curriculum Development Department leads the development, review, and continuous enhancement of curriculum areas across all educational stages. Through its specialized divisions, the Department oversees specific academic and educational domains within an integrated framework of coordination and collaboration, ensuring quality, coherence, and effectiveness in the design and development of national curricula.
The Department is responsible for the ongoing review and enhancement of educational content to ensure alignment with international educational trends and best practices, while supporting students’ future readiness and preserving the national identity and core values of the United Arab Emirates. It also contributes to the development of curriculum frameworks, educational standards, learning resources, and assessment tools that support high-quality learning outcomes, respond to students’ diverse needs, and reflect their developmental characteristics across different age groups.
The diversity of expertise within the Department strengthens the comprehensiveness and coherence of the national curriculum. It enables the effective use of specialized academic and educational knowledge and supports the contextualization of international best practices in ways that are appropriate for each subject area and educational stage. This integrated approach strengthens alignment across curriculum components and contributes to a holistic learning experience that prepares students to compete globally and contribute to the realization of the United Arab Emirates’ vision and future aspirations.
Main Job Duties & Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Review
- Develop, review, and update curriculum frameworks, learning standards, scope and sequence documents, and educational resources within the assigned area of specialization.
- Ensure curriculum content is coherent, age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with national priorities and educational standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of curriculum documents based on research, evidence, and stakeholder feedback.
Assessment and Standards
- Contribute to the development and review of assessment frameworks, assessment tools, performance standards, and supporting guidance materials.
- Analyze assessment data and curriculum outcomes to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.
- Ensure alignment between curriculum expectations, teaching practices, and assessment requirements.
Research and Innovation
- Conduct research and monitor local and international educational trends, emerging practices, and developments relevant to the area of specialization.
- Benchmark curriculum and assessment practices against national and international standards.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to support curriculum innovation and improvement.
Resource Development
- Develop and review educational resources, teacher guides, learning materials, and implementation support tools.
- Support the integration of digital learning solutions and educational technologies into curriculum resources where appropriate.
Curriculum Implementation Support
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to support curriculum implementation across educational settings.
- Contribute to the development of professional learning materials and capacity-building initiatives for educators.
- Respond to curriculum-related inquiries and provide subject matter expertise to stakeholders.
Quality Assurance and Evaluation
- Participate in the review and quality assurance of curriculum documents, educational resources, and assessment materials.
- Monitor curriculum implementation and evaluate its effectiveness through data analysis, feedback, and field engagement.
- Recommend improvements to enhance curriculum quality and educational outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Collaborate with educational authorities, schools, universities, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders on curriculum initiatives.
- Participate in committees, working groups, consultations, and curriculum development projects.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration to ensure coherence across curriculum areas and educational stages.
Administrative and Project Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning, management, and delivery of curriculum projects and initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports, briefing papers, presentations, and other documentation as required.
- Perform other duties related to the role as assigned by the direct line manager.
Skills Description
Skills - Qualification & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Early Childhood, or a related field. – Arabic Language.
- Teaching qualification or equivalent educational qualification.
Preferred
- Master's degree in early Years – Arabic Language, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Assessment, or related field.
- Relevant professional certifications in curriculum, assessment, or education.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, assessment, or educational program design.
- Experience in developing, reviewing, or implementing curriculum frameworks, learning standards, educational resources, or assessment materials.
- Experience in analyzing educational data and applying evidence-based practices to support improvement.
- Experience working with educators, subject matter experts, schools, or education stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and delivering professional learning, training, or technical support is preferred.
