Job Description

Since the establishment of the union of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, education has received the utmost attention of the founding leader, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah have mercy on him, and his founding brothers. They believed that education was the cornerstone of building an enabled community that could keep pace with the advancements. Over the past decades, the wise leadership of the country was keen on building an educational system that matched its counterparts in the advanced nations. It harnessed for this purpose all the required capabilities, to achieve the country's agenda and national vision in this regard. Sincere efforts have also been made to develop education and adopt the best systems that achieve high-quality education outputs, to achieve the future visions and aspirations of the wise leadership.

 Since investing in human capital is the main objective, the UAE has been keen on establishing the Ministry of Education and creating the appropriate environment to build pioneering Emirati schools, in terms of standards, form, and content they provide. It also made sure that such schools provided high-quality educational environment and owned the most technically advanced tools to be able to graduate generations that could pursue their university education confidently in higher education institutions to fulfil the requirements of labour market.

 The MOE has also provided a smart learning system and high-quality digital platforms, side by side with the continuous development of school curriculums, according to national learning standards, assessment policy that is based on assessing for learning, and highest quality standards that match the best international practices. Various learning tracks, moreover, have been provided to support the capabilities and skills of students and achieve the country's strategy of encouraging the culture of creativity and innovation through providing the students with the skills of the 21st century and motivating them to have new ideas that relate to the reality they live in and foresee the future. This will eventually help in finding radical, sustainable solutions to the major issues, improving competitiveness, and supporting smart government in its attempts to keep pace with global advancements, advance education, and push it to broad horizons of excellence, leadership, and competitiveness.

Department Definition

Implementing the Social Studies curriculum of the Ministry of Education in accordance with the educational policies, regulations, and systems in force in the country, with the aim of enhancing the student’s level to meet international standards, creating an engaging learning environment, and building a well-balanced student personality.

Main Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive annual and term plans for the Social Studies curriculum in alignment with established content and performance standards.
• Lead and manage the teaching and learning process using modern, student-centered instructional strategies, effectively utilizing educational tools and resources in accordance with the daily lesson plan.
• Design and prepare a variety of assessments to evaluate and measure student performance, analyze results to inform instruction, and complete evaluation and documentation tasks accurately and on schedule in accordance with approved guidelines.
• Develop and implement remedial programs for underperforming students and enrichment plans for gifted and high-achieving students, in coordination with relevant departments.
• Interact with all students in a professional and equitable manner, collaborating with the school counselor to address individual cases and identify their specific needs for care, support, and follow-up.
•    Integrate historical thinking skills, including analysis of primary and secondary sources, interpretation of historical events, and evaluation of multiple perspectives.
•    Promote students’ understanding of geography through map skills, spatial analysis, and the study of human–environment interactions.
•    Strengthen national identity and civic responsibility by linking curriculum content with UAE history, heritage, and national values.
•    Encourage critical thinking and discussion of contemporary social, and economic issues relevant to students’ lives.
•    Organize project‑based learning activities such as historical investigations, debates, and research projects related to social studies topics.

Requirements for Expatriates: 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject (Social Studies(History , Geography , National Education.
Minimum 3-year degree

Experience (no certification): 3+ years of full-time teaching experience in schools

Experience (with certification): 2+ years full- time teaching experience in schools if the candidate possesses one of the following:

Accepted Certification: Ministry of Education teaching License.

Must not exceed 55 years of age

Arabic proficiency requirement: Excellent level of Arabic in reading, writing and speaking.

English proficiency requirement: Good level of English in reading, writing, and speaking.

The candidate is required to obtain a Teacher’s License within the first two years from the date of joining

Requirements for Emirati Nationals:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject (Social Studies(History , Geography , National Education.
Minimum 3-year degree

Experience: No previous teaching experience required.

Minimum GPA of 2.5 for Emirati candidates.

Must not exceed 55 years of age

Arabic proficiency requirement: Excellent level of Arabic in reading, writing and speaking.

English proficiency requirement: Good level of English in reading, writing, and speaking.

The candidate is required to obtain a Teacher’s License within the first two years from the date of joining
